Internet Marketing Success Seekers? Build Links
Marketing is about people; people who know each other.
automated blogs are about marketing, internet marketing.
So it seems to me that automated blogs, like any WordPress blog installation are about people and more important our relationships with them.
I just did some backlink research. I was checking on one of my own sites and its backlinks. We are doing OK, almost 10,000 backlinks and most are from blogs. But in the process I found out that many automated blogs have very few links.
Guys (and girls), in order to be successful we need links, we need to be connected to other people.
OK, so that's easy for me to say. Internet Marketing folk need links, so, give us some news Andrew!
Here's a suggestion. automated blogs are wordpress blogs, you know the tools, commenting, backlinks and trackbacks. Why not get out and spend each day 45 minutes on finding other blogs in your subject area and then write a productive comment on some of those blogs?
How to do it? Well, there is software to help find these blogs and even to manage the job for you, but for now lets do it by hand.
1) Make sure that you 'claim' your blog in Technorati, this gives you access to a load of stats about your site, who is linking to you, how often and how well ranked their sites are. This is a good starting point for finding places to post comments.
Here is the link for Technorati's blog claiming toolbox: http://technorati.com/signup/
2) Do a search on Technorati for blogs on your keyword. You can choose to filter the results by keyword, authority and then language. So, for example I might choose 'preganancy' with 'some authority' and 'English', that gives me 314 blogs to go at. The blogs are listed for me, now all I have to do is choose some… I'd be inclined to go for blogs that are well linked and relatively recent.
The blogs are listed in post order and have a snippet from the post so you can scan quickly and see which posts take your fancy. Click on the post, look for the comments link and write your comment. Some blogs, sadly, have their comments forms disabled, but thre is always another blog!
When writing be constructive and positive and when linking back to your site make it to an appropriate post or page and, if possible, use anchor text links. Sometimes it is not appropriate to use a link in the post, if so, you can still place the link in the submissions box, in which case the link'll normally be from your post name to your site, so you can still be a little creative!
As I mentioned before, there are some tools to help this process, I will be mentioning those in a later post. For now get feet wet with manual techniques.
